Firecracker

she hears a whistle
in the sky.

you fall into her, breathe in
the scent of gunpowder as
a fire erupts in your ribs.

a shell against your ear
sings with all the sorrow
of the sea,

but a woman who cries
for you
hears this song anywhere
she goes.
